It’s incredible how a film can change the trajectory of someone’s life. I was thinking about this the other day, how certain movies can shape us during key moments even more than the people around us sometimes do.

as a fellow black brit, This is England is legendary. like Meadows GOT IT. and projected it on to the screen supremely. wow. timeless.

This is eclectic! I've not seen a couple you mentioned and will check them out. Re: O Brother, the casting and directors were blocks for me. But I'm inspired by your description for another look! Also, I watch a LOT of British TV dramas, crime, detective series - so I get that working class, white supremacy theme.

completely agree re your reaction to o brother, bizarre choice to make a film so intrinsically about black culture and cast one black actor but hollywood stays disappointing (but never surprising).
